Spring Service Experience

Applications are now being accepted for Hillel's Spring Service Experience 2017, a JDC Entwine Insider Trip to Hungary and Romania!

Trip Dates: March 12 - 19, 2017

Trip Highlights:

  • Engage with the Hungarian and Romanian Jewish communities and explore the issues that each faces 20 years after the fall of communism
  • Connect with Hungarian and Romanian peers
  • Learn about the history of Jewish life in Eastern Europe
  • Experience Hungarian and Romanian culture through food, arts, and a once-in-a-lifetime Shabbat

Participant Fee: $2,195

* Please note that this is a subsidized price; the actual per-student cost is approximately $3,000

The trip cost includes:

  • Round-trip airfare from Washington to Budapest
  • Local transportation
  • Hotel accommodations and all but a couple of meals
  • Briefings, tours, and leisure activities
  • Insurance

Participants will be expected to submit a non-refundable deposit of $800 upon notification of selection for the trip.  The balance of payment will be due by January 9, 2017.

Limited scholarship may be available.  Scholarship need should be communicated to Jason Benkendorf (jasonb@american.edu) upon submission of one's application.  Hillel can also assist students in personal fundraising for the trip.

JDC Entwine is a one-of-a-kind movement for young Jewish leaders, influencers, and advocates who seek to make a meaningful impact on global Jewish needs and international humanitarian issues.  Entwine is an initiative of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), the largest Jewish humanitarian organization in the world.
