First Year Students of Hillel

Each year, AU Hillel runs a special peer mentorship program for freshmen and transfer students called First Year Students of Hillel (FYSH).  Incoming students are matched with returning students who share their interests or hobbies.  These peer mentors help new students get acclimated to life at AU and get involved with the campus Jewish community.

We conduct a variety of programs specifically designed to engage new students and to facilitate relationship-building between new students and their mentors.  Past FYSH events have included Shabbat bagel brunches, sushi-making, softball games, and making no-sew blankets for seriously ill children.

Our staff routinely hear from first-year students that the FYSH program made their transition to college easier, and many FYSH participants remain close friends with their mentors years later!

Registration for the FYSH program will begin in May.
