ADL Spring Semester Internships

Under direct supervision, participate in day-to-day operations and projects within the Regional Operations and Education, or Development Departments of the Washington, DC Regional Office of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) in order to learn real-world, transferable skills and gain work experience in a professional setting. The Washington, DC Regional Office offers two internship opportunities:

Advocacy and Engagement Internship

Interns will work directly with Regional Staff on projects related to regional politics, education, communications and law-enforcement, including but not limited to:

  • Drafting official external communications products on ADL issues, including social media
  • Conducting research and helping carry out programming on various ADL civil rights, law enforcement and political issues
  • Conducting outreach to ADL partners including ADL donors and law enforcement
  • Assisting in written communications related to No Place for Hate®, including with lay leader coordinators and education professionals
  • Observing ADL education programs in schools throughout the Washington, DC region and compiling feedback and testimonials
  • Supporting education programs, including through outreach and marketing, compiling program materials, reviewing program proposals from participating schools, and evaluation
  • Providing support for special events and board or community meetings

 

Development Internship

Interns will work directly with Regional Staff on fundraising and development projects supporting ADL’s work addressing hate crimes, anti-Semitism, anti-bias education and law enforcement outreach.  Projects involve major donor research, donor thank you processing, volunteer engagement and outreach, database management, assisting with meeting and event planning, and other duties as needed.  Specific tasks may include:

  • Assist in general donor stewardship
  • Communicate with current and prospective donors
  • Help maintain and update donor databases
  • Support Development staff in organizing day-to-day communications with individual and company donors
  • Assist in drafting fundraising emails and event planning and coordination
  • Research projects, prospects, and initiatives
  • Draft profiles of prospective donors
  • Help coordinate submission of grant applications to foundations and individuals
  • Perform general administrative duties to assist ADL Development staff, to include general filing and data entry
  • Support creative donor engagement and local volunteer initiatives, including researching and sharing best practices for fundraising events and campaigns, and drafting and posting social media messaging

Education:

  • Juniors and seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates are welcome to apply. Preferred fields of public policy, education, nonprofit management, communications, public administration, business, political science, Jewish studies, fundraising, sociology, or related fields.
